Our sustainable off-grid cabins are nestled in secluded spots, overlooking the vines and farmland on a winery and cattle farm just off Caves Road. One of our cabins is even dog friendly, so you don’t have to leave your canine companion at home on your next trip to the South West.
Yallingup is located just half an hour from Margaret River and a short drive from the town of Dunsborough. It is known for its world-class surf breaks, stunning and clear turquoise beaches, and limestone cave systems that run underneath the appropriately named, Caves Road.
Yallingup is located on Wadandi boodja (country). The Wadandi (Saltwater People) are the traditional custodians of the land, having cared for it for over 40,000 years. The name Yallingup comes from the Wadandi language, meaning ‘place of caves’. The caves here hold great cultural and spiritual significance to the Wadandi people, which you can learn more about during your time here.
What to do in Yallingup
Yallingup is brimming with natural beauty, while also being home to some of the best food and wine in the Margaret River region. Our self-contained accommodation is close to the coast, including Yallingup, Smiths, Indjidup and Meelup beach.
Visit the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, and stop in at Canal Rocks and the Injidup Natural Spa. Injidup is a naturally formed rock pool where the ocean waves crash over the rocks, creating a ‘spa’ feeling. While it does get quite busy in summer, it is something to experience at least once. If you want to explore the South West beaches a little more, you can go snorkelling at The Aquarium, famously named for its crystal clear waters.
Swings & Roundabouts is just down the road, serving up some of the best pizza in the region. Their delicious range of wines are perfectly paired with breathtaking bushland and vineyard views. Grab a coffee at the Yallingup General Store – that is a cute cafe, post office and general store all in one. Stop in at the Caves House Hotel for some live music or entertainment, while sipping on a local pour.
Don’t forget your boards if you’re into surfing because there are plenty of waves to catch at the Yallingup Main Break. There’s an outdoor shower back at the cabin so you can also rinse off before heading back inside.

We arrived at our accommodation at sunset and were welcomed by the curious cows and sheep. We had only driven 40 minutes and we already felt relaxed and excited to settle into the Rimu Lodge. The first thing we noticed is the unique shape of the accommodation, almost everything was made of wood which truly made us feel like we were in a cabin in the forest!
